What are cockroaches?

Cockroaches have a flattened brown oval body with long spiny legs. Many species of cockroaches have wings but are unable to fly. Cockroaches can be brought into your home from various objects such as groceries, used furniture, appliances and cardboard boxes.
Cockroaches can contaminate food and spread disease by getting into food or food preparation areas.

Where are cockroaches found?

Cockroaches are attracted to warm, damp conditions such as kitchens, bathrooms and plumbing areas. Cockroaches are most active at night and are attracted to food, grease and water sources.

Cockroaches spend most of their time hiding. Cockroaches hide in dark, sheltered places such as under the sink, behind appliances and in cracks and crevices.

Cockroach droppings are black and look like specs of pepper or ground coffee and they have a musty smell.
